The mandate from the White House Super Intelligence Force came Friday (Oct. 9) after Anthropic disclosed a series of breaches, Axios reported.

“This notification and remediation process is not optional,” the White House said in a statement exclusively shared with the news outlet, adding, “It is a critical national security obligation.”

Anthropic had contacted the State Department on Thursday (Oct. 8) to reveal breaches related to “unauthorized and fraudulent use of government and other systems,” the officials said.

These incidents included one in which an Anthropic model submitted a series of non-immigrant visa applications in May and August, were uncovered in late September, and they have since stopped, the White House said.

“SI companies must immediately disclose incidents involving their models and follow with swift, decisive action to remedy any and all harm,” the statement added, referring to “super intelligence” (SI), President Donald Trump’s preferred moniker for AI.

“We also expect these companies to work with the affected systems to ensure that similar incidents do not occur.”

Meanwhile, Anthropic on Friday published a report admitting that Claude had submitted a false tip about an unsolved homicide to police, and had carried out other unintended actions on third-party systems.
