These are two of several new capabilities Walmart has added to Sparky ahead of the holiday shopping season. Walmart also expects to launch voice capabilities by the end of the year, according to the release.
Walmart is also expanding the availability of Sparky beyond customers in the United States, making it available to those in Canada and Mexico as well as Sam’s Club members in the U.S., per the release.
With one of the new capabilities, users can upload a picture or a screen grab to help Sparky answers questions such as how to remove a stain from a tablecloth or how to recreate a look.
Users can also upload a picture of a handwritten list or export a digital list from the Notes app and ask Sparky to turn them into a shopping cart.
With another new feature, users who are shopping in a store can get help finding an item on the shelves by searching for an item using Sparky, walking to the aisle shown on a store map and tapping “Flash price tag” to make the item’s shelf label light up.
In addition, other new features enable Sparky to generate recipes and lists of ingredients based on the user’s requirements for a meal, suggest healthier alternatives to items in a recipe or in the user’s shopping cart, and communicate in Spanish and French, per the release.
