The new financing values the company at $1.25 billion and will help it work on its software that lets groups of people interact with AI to coordinate activities and make decisions, Bloomberg News reported Thursday (Oct. 29).

The report describes Wabi as the latest in a series of startups in the personal assistant field, where companies like OpenAI and Meta are vying to draw more users to the AI offerings.

OpenAI last month debuted its agent Dots, which users can interact with via messaging and calls and which was built to conduct work on their behalf. Also in September, Meta introduced its assistant Muse, which quickly garnered more than 10 million downloads.

Wabi, the Bloomberg report added, introduced its latest update Oct. 19. Users can bring the assistant into group chats to help plan trips, line up schedules and manage day-to-day tasks. It can turn conversations into shared tools like travel itineraries, handle requests like booking appointments or making shopping returns.

“AI shouldn’t just save people time. It should help them spend it better, doing more of what they love, with the people they love,” Wabi’s Founder and CEO Eugenia Kuyda told Bloomberg.
