Visa deal takes Newline’s embedded banking global

Newline by Fifth Third, the embedded banking division of Fifth Third Bank, has partnered with Visa to help eligible US-based FinTechs expand corporate card issuing across more than 40 countries, extending the reach of their embedded payment services.

The agreement uses Visa’s Multinational Program (MNP) to enable eligible FinTechs to offer corporate cards issued for use within individual countries. Transactions are authorised in local currencies and processed in the same way as payments made with domestically issued cards, giving FinTech platforms a route to support business spending across multiple markets.

Eligible clients will manage approved card programmes through their existing relationships with Newline. Access is subject to client and programme eligibility, country availability, regulatory requirements, financial crime controls and sanctions checks.

The partnership reflects a wider challenge for FinTechs building products for businesses with international operations: expanding into new markets can mean navigating different payment arrangements, currencies and regulatory requirements. For platforms offering corporate spending tools, these complexities can limit how easily they serve customers with employees and expenses spread across countries.

By combining Newline’s embedded banking infrastructure with Visa’s international network, the companies aim to make multinational card programmes more accessible to eligible FinTech providers. Potential users include human capital management (HCM) platforms, expense management providers and vertical software-as-a-service (SaaS) businesses serving multinational customers.

Newline provides bank identification number (BIN) sponsorship and an API-driven platform that allows enterprise clients to integrate payment, card and deposit products into their own services. This enables FinTechs and software providers to build financial capabilities into existing customer experiences rather than develop the underlying banking infrastructure independently.
