Upwind, a cloud and AI security platform, has closed a $400m Series C round, arriving less than nine months after the business secured $250m in its Series B.
Bessemer Venture Partners led the investment. Every existing backer returned for the round, including Greylock Partners, Cyberstarts, Craft, Salesforce Ventures, Alta Park, Picture Capital, Swish Ventures, Cerca Partners, TCV, Penny Jar and Leaders Fund. Canapi Ventures joins the shareholder register as a new investor.
Upwind intends to channel the capital into expanding its product and engineering teams as it develops a platform for protecting cloud and AI infrastructure.
The latest raise lifts Upwind’s cumulative funding beyond $800m. The company said this places it among the best-capitalised businesses worldwide tackling cloud and AI security, and described itself as the fastest-growing firm in that market.
Upwind plans to use the money to help security teams counter the rapidly expanding risks that accompany AI adoption. It also credited its customers and partners for the round, noting that it competes against some of the largest companies in the world.
Upwind argues that because AI now reaches deep into enterprise environments, security must stretch from endpoints through to code and the cloud. To that end, it is developing AI sensors for endpoints, scanners for agents and skills, and a redesigned inventory graph.
The company has also introduced three AI agents. Its Blue Agent examines every log source and data point to assemble one coherent attack narrative and handles exploitation attempts at runtime. The Red Agent safely checks whether exposures and vulnerabilities can actually be exploited, allowing teams to concentrate on genuine threats.
