DigFin asks which business models are best (and worst) positioned for the next five years in APAC payments.

DigFin worked with Perplexity.ai to provide research describing the opportunity in digital payments and stablecoins in Asia Pacific, with attention to regulatory and compliance challenges. We wanted to go beyond a snapshot and look at the business models that are necessary to succeed in the next five years across banking, fintech, stablecoins, and investment.

We used a large-language model for fun and to see what we can glean by asking interesting questions for our audience. No doubt many people and businesses are using AI to come up with similar insights. We began with a typical analyst-style report but tweaked it several times to generate something bespoke.

Using a tool like Perplexity can generate a useful framework to think about the industry. One of the challenges of DigFin reporting is that we tend to do profiles of particular companies or founders, or we do deep dives on a specific theme. What a report like this one does is zoom out and help connect the dots.

What it cannot do is reproduce the value of original reporting, nor combining that with the experience that helps ask questions and provide context.

This report is a useful tool to start a conversation, rather than a conclusion to one.
