Maybank Islamic and Credit Guarantee Corporation Malaysia (CGC) want to help smaller suppliers get paid faster through a new supply chain financing scheme.
The scheme is Malaysia’s first supply chain financing guarantee scheme anchored by mid-tier companies, a role traditionally held by large corporations.
It allows suppliers, mainly micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), to receive early payments against approved invoices.
Maybank Islamic will provide Shariah-compliant financing, while CGC will offer guarantee support to eligible mid-tier companies through its BizJamin-i Mid-Tier Companies scheme.
Guarantee fees apply only when the facility is used, while financing requests and disbursements are handled digitally.
The initiative forms part of Maybank’s New Economy Ecosystem and aligns with Budget 2027 measures to ease cash flow pressures across supply chains.
These include a proposed RM10 stamp duty on agreements for the use of excess credit facilities by mid-tier companies.
Mohamad Yasin Abdullah, Group CEO, Islamic Banking & CEO, Maybank Islamic, said,
“By combining Shariah-compliant financing with CGC’s guarantee support, we are enabling MTCs and their suppliers to strengthen liquidity, build greater resilience and enhance their competitiveness.
It also supports Maybank Group Islamic Banking’s ROAR30 strategy to mobilise Islamic finance to drive real economic growth and elevate community wellbeing through values-based intermediation.”
“Through BizJamin-i, we are extending our guarantee to MTCs acting as anchors in their own supply chains, enabling the suppliers behind them, most of whom are MSMEs, to access financing against approved invoices rather than collateral they may not hold.
When a supplier’s trading record is visible and verifiable, our guarantee can reach further and support businesses that might otherwise be underserved.”
