IntellectAI tackles the AI governance gap in workers’ comp

Artificial intelligence is everywhere in insurance conversations, yet many underwriters still struggle to see how it fits into their daily work.

For State Fund workers’ compensation teams, the challenge is even sharper: they must modernise while operating under close regulatory oversight, where a poorly governed model could become an audit liability.

IntellectAI has set out to close that gap with a recorded 30-minute episode of its Byte Size Briefings series, now available on-demand. Rather than leaning on industry buzzwords, the session focuses on practical, real-world AI use cases designed specifically for State Fund underwriters, portfolio managers and technology leaders.

According to IntellectAI, State Fund underwriters are caught in a difficult balancing act. They manage complex risk portfolios while also assessing emerging technologies such as AI, all within a framework of strict regulatory scrutiny. Getting that balance wrong could mean either stagnation or exposure to compliance risk.

In the briefing, IntellectAI SVP of product and go-to-market leader Simon Fagg and underwriting solutions consultant Anthony Guzman walk through a series of functional AI applications. They also demonstrate how each one works inside Xponent, IntellectAI’s underwriting workbench.

The first area covered is portfolio underwriting. IntellectAI shows how teams can identify risk trends quickly, run macro “what-if” scenarios and balance exposures across their book, without relying on time-consuming manual spreadsheets.

The session then turns to dynamic underwriting guidelines. Here, IntellectAI explains how complex, static rulebooks can be converted into actionable digital checks, helping underwriting teams stay aligned and keeping submissions flowing smoothly.
