India’s next wave of global investment is likely to be shaped by sunrise sectors such as renewables, battery storage and green hydrogen , State Bank of India Chairman CS Setty said, as the country seeks to strengthen its position in the evolving global economic order. Setty said India has the talent, entrepreneurs and technological capabilities needed to participate meaningfully in these emerging areas, but the larger opportunity lies in converting these strengths into businesses, technologies, manufacturing capabilities and intellectual property with a global footprint. “The next wave of global investment is likely to be shaped by areas such as sunrise, renewables, battery storage, green hydrogen,” Setty said while speaking at the 13th SBI Banking & Economics Conclave in Mumbai.
“India has a lot of talent, entrepreneurs, and technologically capable individuals to participate meaningfully in these areas. The larger opportunity lies in translating these strengths into businesses, technologies, manufacturing capabilities, and intellectual property that can command a global footprint,” he said. He said the transition towards higher-value manufacturing, new technologies and the green economy would require the financial ecosystem to evolve alongside the economy. “As the economy moves towards higher value manufacturing, new technologies, green transition, and globally competitive enterprises, the back-end science and system will need to evolve alongside providing advanced architecture that enables innovation in the supply chain,” Setty said.
