The partnership is designed to “put game creation in the hands of millions of new creators, and bring new experiences to billions of players worldwide,” Google said in a Wednesday (Oct. 7) news release.
“Google and Unity share a fundamental belief—that AI can open the opportunity of game creation to anyone with an idea for a game—and the two companies are teaming up to build that future together,” the release said.
The collaboration combines Google’s AI research and Unity’s engine technology to build what the companies said is something new: creation tools anyone can use, “AI designed for interactive play, and a platform that is built for community driven features.”
The companies added that a key piece of their partnership is Google’s new Playground platform, which lets users 18 and above generate and customize playable games using natural language prompts, no coding needed.

Google and Unity will later this year debut an “expanded creation experience” known as Unity Spark. Together, the two new platforms will “maintain an accessible interface while unlocking robust, professional-level mechanics, high-fidelity 3D capabilities, and the ultimate flexibility of the Unity runtime,” the release added.
The goal is to allow for an ecosystem where creators can build “immersive, superlative experiences” based on a “simple text prompt,” the companies added.
