Diebold Nixdorf and Euronet Eye Global ATM Outsourcing Deal

Diebold Nixdorf and Euronet Worldwide have signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore a global collaboration on ATM outsourcing services for financial institutions.

The proposed collaboration would combine Diebold Nixdorf’s cash recycling ATMs, banking software and global field services with Euronet’s technology and infrastructure.

Both companies aim to help banks reduce operating costs and simplify ATM management. They also seek to generate additional revenue by expanding the range of financial services available through ATMs.

Diebold Nixdorf’s cash recycling machines reuse deposited banknotes for withdrawals, reducing cash replenishment requirements. Its Branch Automation Solutions also allow banks to shift traditional teller transactions to self-service channels.

Euronet would contribute its Euronet Back Office (EBO) infrastructure, which supports ATM monitoring, cash management, transaction processing, reporting and service coordination.

The proposed services would also include centralised monitoring, coordinated field services and security enhancements, while allowing banks to retain existing provider relationships.

“Banks are under increasing pressure to improve ATM network efficiency, but the opportunity goes beyond cost reduction,”

Michael J. Brown, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Euronet Worldwide, said:

“Combined with Diebold Nixdorf’s cash recycling ATMs and global field services, we can help financial institutions simplify operations, improve efficiency and offer a broader range of transactions at the ATM. We see significant potential in this collaboration.”

During Euronet’s third-quarter earnings call, Brown said the company currently conducts limited ATM outsourcing in the US, where Diebold Nixdorf has a strong market presence.

Euronet acquired Singapore-based Infinitium in 2024, while Diebold Nixdorf secured an agreement that year to provide its Vynamic Payments platform to one of Singapore’s largest banks.
