Curvestone AI brings automated oversight to Y3S mortgage cases

Specialist Mortgage Group, the Cardiff-based owner of Y3S Loans, Y3S Bridging and Commercial, and Chase Blue Loans, has deployed Curvestone AI across its advice and quality-control operations to automate mortgage case oversight and support growth without a corresponding increase in headcount.

The platform connects to Y3S’s existing CRM through an API, analysing call transcripts, emails, WhatsApp and SMS conversations, credit files and applicant information. It checks each case against the group’s internal policies throughout the advice process.

Four checks are now live: shopping list validation to confirm all lender-required documents have been collected; vulnerability assessments; Land Registry report reviews; and advice suitability assessments, which evaluate cases against more than 100 validation points and return a pass or fail result.

Reports take around five minutes to generate, with each finding linked to supporting evidence. Advisers retain responsibility for final decisions, while assessments and outcomes are logged for audit purposes and incorporated into monthly management information and the group’s annual Consumer Duty report.

Y3S has reviewed every case through its quality-control process for almost a decade. The deployment is intended to preserve that level of oversight as the business grows, without requiring its workforce to expand at the same rate. It follows the Financial Conduct Authority’s completion of its distribution review of the second charge mortgage market, which emphasised suitability alongside eligibility.

An early vulnerability assessment demonstrated how the technology could support advisers. During an initial call, a customer briefly mentioned a recent bereavement but did not raise it again.
