More than 400 scientists have signed an open letter calling for additional measures on artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity.

The scientists recommend that organizations involved with cyber-capable AI models adopt high-assurance containment systems; work with governments and experts in the fields of AI and cybersecurity to establish an international body to standardize best practices for alignment and containment approaches that allow for internet connectivity; and report security incidents involving containment failure to the body and eventually the public.

The open letter was prompted by widely reported incidents in which AI models from several organizations compromised the systems of other organizations.
