You Can Play Tetris In Six Volkswagen Cars, But You Will Pay

Volkswagen of America has turned six of its 2027 models into game consoles, and Rachael Zaluzec, the brand's chief marketing officer, is not shy about the ambition behind it. She says the company wants "experiences that bring people together and make every interaction with our brand more meaningful."

The feature is called AirConsole, and it lands on the Atlas, Atlas Cross Sport, Tiguan, Golf GTI, Golf R and ID.Buzz. It launches with 20 games, including PAC-MAN Championship Edition and Tetris, and it comes with a subscription catch once the trial period runs out.

Volkswagen built AirConsole around N-Dream's existing gaming platform, and the automaker calls itself the first volume brand in the US to offer the AirConsole in-vehicle gaming platform on a factory infotainment screen. The 2027 Volkswagen model lineup gets the feature spread across three very different vehicles, from the three-row Atlas to the electric ID.Buzz.

The 20-game launch catalog features recognizable names such as PAC-MAN Championship Edition, UNO Car Party! and Tetris headlining the list. Volkswagen also baked in some house branding, with a custom PAC-MAN skin and other titles carrying Volkswagen-specific content built for the launch.

Select vehicles pair the games with ambient lighting, syncing the cabin's mood lighting to on-screen action. That kind of hardware integration ties directly into how Volkswagen has been rethinking its cabin controls and touchscreen layout across the range.

Anthony Cliquot, CEO of N-Dream, framed the launch around scale rather than novelty. He said AirConsole "will not only entertain millions of people, but also make the in-vehicle experience richer," as Volkswagen rolls it out across North America.
