Toyota Recalls 106K Hybrid Land Cruisers for Possible Fuel Leak

The issue stems from a potentially faulty fuel-line connection, which could waste gas and increase the risk of a fire.

Gas is expensive these days, and filling up your SUV will cost you even more if it’s leaking fuel. That’s a potential concern for nearly 106K Land Cruiser owners, whose vehicles are involved in a new recall that Toyota has reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The recall documents state that 105,794 hybrid Land Cruisers have a plastic fuel tube on the gas tank that connects to a metal fuel tube that sends the combustible liquid to the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. However, if the retaining clip that holds these two parts together is lifted, it can cause the fuel lines to disconnect and cause a leak. Not only will such a leak lead to wasted fuel and the gas engine eventually shutting off, but it also increases the risk of a fire.

While the recall covers over 105K Land Cruisers from the 2024 to 2027 model years, Toyota says that not all of the affected SUVs were sold in the United States. The automaker also hasn’t yet identified the cause of the issue, according to the NHTSA report. Still, Toyota says that all dealers have been notified about the recall, and all owners will be notified by mail by December 13, 2026. Toyota dealers have been instructed to inspect the fuel lines and install a supplemental clamp to prevent them from disconnecting, or to replace the plastic tube and install a clamp if necessary.
