The Nissan Altima Lives To See 2027. But It Costs More

Earlier this year, there was a rumor that Nissan would axe the Altima after 2026. The automaker quickly dispelled the speculation, promising a 2027 model, and today Nissan announced it is now on sale, but with a slightly higher price tag.

The entry-level, front-wheel-drive 2027 Altima SV now starts at $29,065, including the unchanged $1,275 destination charge from 2026. That’s $210 more than before, and you can no longer add all-wheel drive to the base trim.

Instead, buyers will have to opt for the more expensive, top-tier Altima SR that starts at $30,465, and select the $1,500 option. Nissan is not offering any special edition trims yet, like the SR Midnight Edition (all pricing includes destination).

The 2027 Nissan Altima comes standard with the same 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine as before. It produces 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, but those numbers drop to 182 hp and 178 lb-ft when the sedan has all-wheel drive.

The engine pairs with Nissan’s Xtronic continuously variable transmission, which helps its fuel economy. The 2027 Altima returns up to an estimated 26 miles per gallon in the city, 36 mpg on the highway, and 30 miles per gallon combined in FWD models.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with remote engine start. Options include a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and wireless phone charging.

The SR comes with 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss-black trim, exhaust finishers, and carbon-fiber trim. The front-wheel-drive SR gets a sport suspension, while paddle shifters are standard.
