The 2027 BMW i3 and iX3 start at $61,500, but the electric sedan is nearly $80 less a month to lease.

BMW opened orders for the 2027 i3 at the end of September, joining the new iX3 that went on sale earlier this year.

The i3 is essentially the sedan counterpart to the iX3 SUV, built on the same dedicated Neue Klasse EV platform with an 800V electrical system and BMW’s sixth-generation (Gen6) eDrive technology.

Both support DC fast charging of up to 400 kW, enabling them to charge from 10% to 80% in about 21 minutes. They also both have a standard NACS Charge port.

The 2027 BMW i3 and iX3 use the same 108.7 kWh battery, offering ranges of up to 468 miles and 434 miles, respectively. With its taller, more upright SUV design, it’s no surprise the iX3 comes in a bit short of the i3 sedan.

Inside, BMW’s newest EVs feature its Neue Klasse interior design. The setup includes BMW’s new Panoramic Vision, a full-length windshield display, and a 17.9″ central infotainment screen with its latest Operating System X. Buyers can upgrade to the optional BMW 3D Head-Up Display.

The 2027 BMW i3 50 xDrive and 2027 iX3 50 xDrive are now available to order, with prices starting at $61,500 for both.

According to BMW’s payment estimator, the i3 is considerably more expensive to lease than its SUV counterpart.

The 2027 BMW i3 50 xDrive costs $784 a month according to the estimator. That’s for a 36-month lease with $4,999 due at signing.
