Stellantis has launched a new autonomous mobility pilot program in Luxembourg. The project is being carried out in partnership with ride-hailing platform Bolt and autonomous driving technology company Pony.ai.
The initiative marks an important step in the development of self-driving transportation services across Europe. The partners aim to evaluate the safety, performance and regulatory readiness of autonomous vehicles in real-world traffic conditions.
The pilot program will focus on Pony.ai’s seventh-generation autonomous driving technology. The vehicles will operate in Luxembourg’s urban traffic environment to assess how they perform in everyday conditions.
Stellantis is contributing its vehicle engineering expertise and a midsize electric van built on the company’s Level 4-ready platform. The platform has been designed to support scalable deployment of driverless mobility services in the future.
The companies hope to achieve full driverless operational readiness before the pilot program concludes.
Luxembourg was selected because of its progressive approach toward autonomous mobility testing. The country provides an ideal environment for evaluating self-driving technologies under real-world conditions.
The project will operate as a public-facing “living laboratory.” This approach allows the partners to test vehicle deployment, fleet operations, ride-hailing integration and regulatory coordination in a controlled yet realistic environment.
The pilot is expected to provide valuable insights into how autonomous vehicles can safely integrate into European cities.
Bolt contributes its ride-hailing platform and mobility marketplace expertise. Pony.ai provides advanced autonomous driving technology and operational experience gained from previous deployments. Stellantis supplies vehicle engineering, manufacturing capabilities and its Level 4-ready platform.
Together, the companies aim to accelerate the adoption of autonomous mobility solutions in Europe.
