EV charging provider Roam has secured a contract to install charging infrastructure at 14 UK hotels owned by ProsperCap. Installation began in September.
The project will include 170 EV charging sockets: 158 22-kilowatt sockets and 12 50-kilowatt sockets. Overnight guests can use the lower-powered sockets while visitors who need to recharge more quickly can use the 50-kilowatt units.
“Different hotel users have different charging requirements, from overnight guests who have several hours available to visitors who need to recharge more quickly,” said James Randall, CEO of Roam. “Hotel charging networks need to accommodate both.”
The project will be delivered through Roam’s fully funded EV charging model, which allows participating hotels to install charging infrastructure without significant upfront capital investment.
“Hospitality is an important part of the UK’s charging infrastructure,” said Randall. “For many drivers, being able to charge their vehicle while they sleep, eat, attend a meeting or spend time at a hotel is more convenient than making a separate charging stop during their journey.”
“A growing number of our guests now travel in EVs, and reliable charging is an increasingly important part of the experience they expect from our hotels,” said Weerachai Amornrat-Tana, Acting CEO of ProsperCap. “Because all the electricity used at our hotels is sourced through renewable energy contracts, guests can charge their vehicles knowing their journeys are lower-carbon.”
