Nio to expand ES8 lineup with special edition set for late-November launch at Guangzhou Auto Show

Nio Inc (NYSE: NIO) will launch an ES8 special edition at the Guangzhou Auto Show in late November, adding a new option for the large electric SUV that continues to support main-brand sales more than 1 year after its launch.

The ES8 special edition will launch at the 2026 Guangzhou Auto Show, which opens on November 27, Auto Home reported on Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the matter.

The report did not disclose pricing or specifications for the special edition and said Nio had yet to officially reveal further details. The outlet expects the new version to differ from existing variants mainly in color options and design details.

The current third-generation ES8 comes in 5 variants with 5-, 6-, and 7-seat layouts, priced from 382,800 yuan ($57,010) to 446,800 yuan including the battery pack.

Under the BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental plan, current models are priced from 274,800 yuan to 338,800 yuan.

The third-generation ES8 launched on September 20, 2025, with deliveries beginning the following day. Nio added a 5-seat version in July this year, expanding the lineup beyond its original 6- and 7-seat configurations into the large 5-seat SUV segment.

Nio also introduced the Lanyue package for the ES8 in September, featuring 22-inch forged wheels and gold brake calipers, further expanding the large SUV's optional equipment.

Cumulative deliveries of the third-generation ES8 reached 160,000 on October 23 , taking 33 days to rise from the previous milestone of 150,000, as the model remained a major contributor to Nio main-brand sales.
