Angelelli Automobili has introduced the Tipo 829, a project seven years in the making. The Tipo 829 takes its name from the internal project code used for the 1970s Lancia Stratos HF rally car, and it explores multiple versions on a shared technical base.
The Tipo 829 uses a six-cylinder 3.4-liter engine making about 500 horsepower. Angelelli Automobili presents it as one chapter in the Tipo 829 story, with the name paying tribute to the Stratos HF and the Terra variant focused on mixed-surface performance rather than a single track or grand touring version.
The Tipo 829 is not framed as a single model with a long option list. Angelelli Automobili talks about three distinct characters built around the same core idea, with Terra as the first to move from sketchpad to a commissionable project.
The Terra variant draws on rally stages and hill climbs in its positioning, with an emphasis on traction and performance on different surfaces. Official material focuses on its rally inspiration and mechanical identity instead of listing ride-height figures or suspension-travel numbers.
That rally-bred approach puts the Tipo 829 Terra in different company than, say, the raised Porsche 911 with adjustable air suspension built in Italy for similar mixed-surface use, though the two projects come from entirely separate workshops.
Davide Angelelli, the man behind the project, describes the Strada version as the interpretation closest to a traditional Italian GT formula. It is conceived for road use, fast touring and spirited driving on asphalt rather than for pure circuit work.
