JLR to assemble Defender 110 in Pune, prices start at ₹99 lakh

India becomes the first market outside Europe to locally produce the SUV, with deliveries of the India-manufactured models scheduled to begin on November 15

Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) will assemble the Defender 110 at its Pune facility for the Indian market, marking the first time the SUV will be locally produced in India and making the country the first market outside Europe to manufacture the model, the company said on Tuesday. According to the official press release, bookings for the locally manufactured Defender 110 have opened at prices starting at ₹99 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The 2.0-litre petrol X-Dynamic HSE is priced from ₹99 lakh, while the 3.0-litre petrol and 3.0-litre diesel versions start at ₹1.18 crore. Deliveries are scheduled to begin from November 15, 2026. The move comes as JLR looks to strengthen its manufacturing footprint in India and respond more quickly to demand for the SUV. The company said local production would help reduce waiting periods and improve accessibility without compromising its global engineering and durability standards. Defender is JLR India's highest-selling model, with more than 9,000 units on Indian roads, according to the company. “This is a proud milestone for JLR India. The country has embraced Defender for its capability, versatility and unmistakable character. With more than 9,000 Defenders on Indian roads already, and as our highest-selling model, it has moved beyond an SUV to become a cultural icon,” said Rajan Amba, Managing Director, JLR India.
