James May Is Selling One Of His Most Legendary Grand Tour Cars

James May has put his Triumph Stag up for sale. The 1974 MkII, Magenta over black vinyl, is the car he drove in The Grand Tour's finale, "One for the Road," and it is now listed through Collecting Cars with bidding set to close October 29.

May owned the Stag for roughly three years before deciding to part with it. The listing lays out exactly what a buyer takes on: original drivetrain, two restorations, and an odometer that the seller will not vouch for.

This is the actual car from the show, not a stand-in. It appears in the finale that closed out the trio's run together, the same send-off that followed years of The Grand Tour specials built around Clarkson, Hammond, and May.

According to Collecting Cars, the car returned to near-standard trim once filming wrapped, and after modifications made for the production were undone. One quirk survived the cleanup: the speedometer fitted to the car is from an earlier MkI Stag, not the MkII it is bolted into.

May is not the only Grand Tour alum clearing out a garage. Jeremy Clarkson recently put three of his most famous Grand Tour cars up for sale. The timing suggests the show's cast is quietly closing that chapter.

The Stag, a British roadster styled by Michelotti, was first registered in October 1974. 0-liter Triumph V8 paired with a four-speed manual gearbox, sending power to the rear wheels.
