Fiat Revives The Multipla As Minivan, SUV, And Truck Mashup

Fiat is bringing back the Multipla. Well, at least in spirit anyway. Meet the Multiplay, a quirky concept that combines a minivan, an SUV, and a pickup truck into one compact package. Unveiled on the eve of the 2026 Paris Motor Show alongside a myriad of concepts from other Stellantis brands, the unusual creation is all about versatility, with a clever trick that lets it switch from a family hauler to a miniature workhorse.

At 4.45 meters (175.2 inches) long, the Multiplay is designed to handle everything from school runs to weekend adventures without requiring owners to buy multiple vehicles. Its party trick is a sliding rear module that transforms the six-seat-plus-one family vehicle into a four-seat pickup with an open cargo bed. Think of it as a Swiss Army knife on wheels, with a healthy dose of Italian flair.

Before you get too excited, though, Fiat says the Multiplay isn't a preview of a specific production model. Instead, it serves as a laboratory for ideas that could influence future vehicles from the Italian brand. The concept's transformation hinges on an architecture Fiat calls "Metamorfosi," which uses a movable rear section to change the vehicle's configuration.

In family mode, the cabin seats six plus a clever extra seat. When you need more cargo space, the rear module slides along dedicated guides to create an open bed behind the remaining four seats. That makes the concept more versatile than a conventional family vehicle, at least on paper.

Bicycles, sports equipment, and bulky items can be carried without sacrificing the entire passenger compartment.
