BYD’s latest flagship EV, the Great Han, is now on sale in China, starting at about $35,000 with a CLTC range of over 1,000 km (621 miles).
The Great Han, or “Da Han” as it’s sold in China, is BYD’s first fully electric D-segment flagship sedan under its Dynasty series.
BYD launched the luxury sedan in China on Tuesday with three variants, priced from 235,900 yuan, or about $35,000.
It’s available in single- and dual-motor powertrains. The base rear-wheel-drive (RWD) Premium model offers a CLTC range of up to 1,008 km (626 miles), while the top-spec all-wheel-drive (AWD) Flagship variant provides 880 km (546 miles).
All variants use a 102.326 kWh BYD Blade 2.0 battery pack. The RWD models have a single 370 kW (496 hp) motor, while the AWD variant adds a 200 kW front motor for a combined 570 kW (764 hp).
All Great Han models also include a roof-mounted LiDAR and BYD’s God’s Eye B intelligent driver assistance system.
The setup offers safety and convenience features including Navigate on Autopilot on highways and in cities, plus remote autonomous parking.
With BYD’s second-gen Blade Batteries and Flash Charging technology, the flagship EV can charge from 10% to 70% in just 5 minutes. A full recharge (10% to 97%) takes just 9 minutes.
The Great Han is 5,256 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,510 mm high, with a 3,130 mm wheelbase, or slightly bigger than the Tesla Model S and Lucid Air. It’s about the size of the long-wheelbase Mercedes -Benz S-Class.
