BYD Denza to begin pre-sales of refreshed N8 SUV on October 26 with flash charging

BYD's (HKEX: 1211) premium brand Denza will begin pre-sales of the new Denza N8 on October 26 ahead of its official launch in November, adding a large 5-seat model to its SUV lineup.

Denza general manager Li Hui announced the timeline on Weibo on Thursday, without disclosing an exact launch date, pricing or delivery arrangements.

A poster released alongside the announcement promotes the new N8 as a spacious 5-seat SUV offering a new level of technology. The timeline brings the model closer to launch following its regulatory filing in July.

Filings released by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on July 10 showed the new N8 is a 5-seat electric SUV offering single-motor rear-wheel-drive and triple-motor all-wheel-drive variants.

The vehicle measures 5,150 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width and 1,820 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,075 mm. It is 50 mm shorter than the 6-seat N8L, with the other dimensions unchanged.

The single-motor variants have peak outputs of 320 kW (429 hp) and 370 kW, respectively. The triple-motor version uses the e3 technology platform, with 1 motor at the front and 2 at the rear delivering a combined 890 kW.

Denza confirmed in July that the new N8 will feature BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging technology.

The technology offers a usable charge in 5 minutes and a near full charge in 9 minutes, with charging taking just 3 minutes longer even in extreme cold of minus 30 degrees Celsius, Denza previously said.
