General Motors (NYSE: GM) brand Buick launched a refreshed version of its Electra E7 plug-in hybrid SUV (sport utility vehicle) in China on Wednesday, just 5 months after the model's initial rollout.
The updated model comes in 3 variants with official guide prices ranging from 159,900 yuan ($23,700) to 199,900 yuan. Limited-time prices with trade-in incentives range from 147,900 yuan to 187,900 yuan.
Guide prices are unchanged from the April launch, but the starting price after limited-time incentives has fallen further from the previous 149,900 yuan. Customers who place orders before October 8 can also receive benefits worth 50,000 yuan.
The refresh centers on equipment changes, with the mid-range variant upgrading from a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine to a 1.5-liter turbocharged unit, allowing buyers to avoid choosing between power and advanced driver assistance.
The Electra E7 offers 2 Zhenlong plug-in hybrid powertrains, with combined outputs of 280 kW (375 hp) and 237 kW, respectively.
Both use a 32.6-kWh battery, delivering CLTC electric ranges of 230 kilometers and 235 kilometers and combined ranges of 1,600 kilometers and 1,630 kilometers, respectively. Fast charging from 30% to 80% takes 15 minutes.
The range-topping Turbo version features an RTD continuously variable damping suspension with road-preview capability, scanning road conditions 500 times per second.
The 2 lower-priced variants use battery cells from Zenergy, while the Turbo version uses cells from CATL (HKEX: 3750).
The model debuts the next-generation Doubao large language model and the industry's first S2S end-to-end voice model. It also features Momenta 's (HKEX: 6880) R6 reinforcement learning model.
