2027 Honda Civic Adds New Sport-L Trim with Premium Features

The Sport-L becomes the priciest pure-gas Civic, inheriting content from the hybrids but keeping the sedan’s base price below $30K.

Honda is gearing up to give the compact Civic a substantial overhaul in 2028, but before then, the Japanese automaker has updated the Civic with a new trim level. The 2027 Civic Sport-L joins the lineup as a stepping stone between the gas-powered Sport and the Sport Hybrid, adding premium features from the hybrid models while keeping the starting price just below the $30,000 mark.

The Civic Sport-L will reach dealerships before the end of 2026, and it packs an array of content that was previously only found on hybrid Civics. The cabin is decked out with leather upholstery that was exclusive to the Sport Touring Hybrid, and it also gains that trim’s power-adjustable front seats. Those cushions are now heated too, and the Sport-L features a dual-zone climate control system; both pieces of equipment were formerly limited to hybrid Civics.

The Sport-L also includes a passenger-side seatback pocket and vanity mirrors with illumination in the sunshades, two other tidbits that used to be restricted to gas-electric Civics. The cherry on top is silver-colored interior trim borrowed from the Sport Touring Hybrid. The Civic Sport-L sedan starts at $29,790, while the hatchback opens at $30,990.

Elsewhere, the Civic carries over essentially unchanged for 2027, with the exception of the Sport Touring Hybrid trim adding the S+ Shift function found on the Prelude , which simulates traditional gearchanges via paddle shifters.
