The engine, detuned from duty in the Bronco Raptor, should make 380 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque.
After Ford upgraded the Bronco for 2027 with a new engine, it’s now the Ranger’s turn. The Bronco Raptor’s twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 has been detuned and spread across the lower rungs of the Bronco lineup, and now it looks like the Ranger is set to get the same powertrain. As reported by Autoevolution, an order guide shows that the Ranger will replace the optional 2.7-liter V-6 with the new twin-turbo 3.0-liter unit.
While the Ranger’s XLT and Lariat trims will still come standard with the 270-hp turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder, the optional twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V-6 is being replaced. The new 3.0-liter engine will continue to be paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Although the order guide doesn’t specify, the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 produces 380 hp and 440 pound-feet of torque in the 2027 Bronco, and we expect to see the same figures for Ford’s mid-size truck. That represents an increase of 65 hp and 40 pound-feet over the 2.7-liter. The base XL model will continue to come exclusively with the inline-four. While the base four-cylinder comes standard with rear-wheel drive, the 3.0-liter will only be offered with four-wheel drive.
The order guide reveals a few other minor changes coming to the 2027 Ranger. A variety of new wheels will be offered across the lineup, along with new finishes for the grille on the XLT and Lariat. Just as with the Bronco, the Ranger will replace the Velocity Blue paint color with Neptune Blue and will also ditch the Carbonized Gray paint.
