The shoe industry is big on philanthropy. Here are the charitable efforts thus far in 2026.

Year in and year out, the footwear sector continues to deepen their commitments to charitable efforts.

The two charitable donations this month from Nike cofounder Phil Knight and his wife Penny continues to put the shoe industry at the forefront leading charitable donation efforts.

The University of Oregon on Wednesday disclosed that the Knights have pledged $1 billion to the school to build a new college for engineering. The Nike cofounder is a member of the Class of 1959.

Knight and his wife are known for their philanthropy to the Portland community. The donation to the University of Oregon comes a week after the Knights pledged a $1.1 billion gift to the Providence St. Vincent Medial Center and the Providence heart Institute. The gift will be used to create the state’s first hospital dedicated to women’s health and help advance the next generation of cardiovascular treatment and care. Last year they made a record $2 billion gift to the Oregon Health & Science University to fund cancer care and research in Nike’s Portland Community.

The Knights’s largesse thus far this year likely puts them at the top of footwear industry donors, but they are not the only ones.

This past June, the Two Ten Foundation ‘s annual gala drew 750 people and raised nearly $650,000 to fund emergency relief, hardship and education programs. S. shoe industry.
