Innovation is always the key to success. Lenzing Group’s TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers have a lot of positive, sought-after attributes, but we never stop exploring what more they can do. This attitude of expansion has opened the door to new applications and textile results.
For years, our standard TENCEL™ Lyocell fiber has been celebrated for its fluidity and silky-smooth touch. Our new Freeform collection rewires that narrative using TENCEL™ Lyocell with 2.2 dtex fineness. Comparatively, standard TENCEL™ sits around 1.3 to 1.7 dtex (a weight-based measurement that reflects mass in grams per 10,000 meters of fiber) so the 2.2 dtex is a heavier fiber. It more closely resembles bast cellulosic fibers like hemp or linen.
This article is one of a series on SJ Denim from Lenzing’s Carved in Blue denim blog. From conversations with the experts behind the mills that make some of the world’s most-wanted denim to the global brands bringing novel denim made with TENCEL™ Lyocell and Modal to the market, Carved in Blue shares the stories of those whose roots run deep with denim.
