The actress wore Alessandro Michele's Valentino couture for the “AHS: 13" celebration on Wednesday.

Sarah Paulson joined her costars in styling her take on the dark glamour trend in Valentino for the “American Horror Story: 13” celebration at Hotel Chelsea in New York City on Wednesday night.

The Emmy Award-winning actress turned to couturier and Valentino creative director Alessandro Michele‘s spring couture 2025 collection. Paulson’s dress incorporated a few of the touchstones of dark glamour, from its dramatic silhouette to the monochrome palette.

The highlight of the dress was, without a doubt, the bodice, which featured a sheer, birdcage-style rounded scoop neckline with a bevy of tulle ruffles in layers. The bodice created a stark contrast to the skirt of the dress, which flowed with intentional drama and created a slight train that trailed the actress.

Given just how striking Paulson’s dress was, the actress opted to keep her accessories mostly minimal, save for a pair of dangling Swedish grace earrings courtesy of Engelbert.

The Valentino spring 2025 couture collection marked Michele’s debut couture curation for the Italian luxury fashion house. Debuting as part of Paris Couture Week in January 2025, the collection “was couture for the metaverse era,” Joelle Diderich wrote in WWD’s review of the collection.

“Historical references like pannier skirts, ruff collars, tapestry florals and billowing sleeves were mashed up with precious embroideries that conjured a mix of samurai armor, flapper dresses and commedia dell’arte characters,” Diderich wrote.

“Michele told WWD that working with the members of the atelier helped him to realize that their craft is a living, breathing thing, and not a relic from another age.”
