Roughly a year and a half into its lifespan, the Nike Air Max 95 Big Bubble is now going the route of “choose your own adventure.”
The hit sneaker has been added to the Nike by You platform, allowing consumers to create custom colorways with a variety of color options. Fourteen different colors are available to choose from for most of the shoe’s elements, with an emphasis placed primarily on greyscale and neutrals. This includes each of the shoe’s signature wavy stripes, which can also be rendered in either leather or synthetic suede. Choosing a white or black midsole unlocks the option to customize the forefoot and heel Air units in matching opaque treatments in addition to the six colors available regardless. Finally, the Air Max tongue logue can also be altered to incorporate text up to three characters on each shoe.
Big Bubble Air units have been a central feature on Air Max releases since the iconic “Neon” launch colorway was first brought back last spring for the shoe’s 30th anniversary. The larger proportions are more in line with those of the shoe in its earlier lifespan, a detail that hadn’t gone unnoticed among Air Max fanatics over the years.
This change has also come with the Air Max 95 shooting to the top of Nike’s lineup with a wide variety of options including colorways new and old, high-profile collaborations and other revisions in construction that will include Gore-Tex reinforced variants releasing in November.
Speaking to Footwear News for a story on the sneaker’s buzz in summer 2025, The Whitaker Group founder James Whitner said: “For me personally, the 95 was the OG, it transcended performance right out the gate.
