6 new Netflix shows you need to binge this weekend (September 25-27)

As always, there's a lot of new content coming to Netflix. Ahead of the weekend, check out what's worth binging.

Our first selection isn't a Netflix original, but is a great, binge-worthy sitcom that not enough people have seen. Party Down is a Starz series about a group of struggling actors who work for a catering company to make ends meet. They work a different event each episode, from singles mixers to kids' birthday parties to adult film awards. The writing is sharp, and frustrations are relatable, and the cast is top-notch; it includes the likes of Adam Scott, Ken Marino, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen, and Jane Lynch.

The first two seasons of Party Down aired back in 2009 and 2010, with a third season airing years later in 2023. All three seasons are now available on Netflix.

This reality series inspired by the classic movie Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory pits 12 Golden Ticket winners against each other as they complete physical, mental, and moral challenges on a massive set designed to look like Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. The winner gets "a lifetime supply of money." Based on the trailer, challenges will include things like holding onto handles while you're spun around, building towers out of weird-shaped blocks, and licking wallpaper.

The original Willy Wonka movie was a pretty wholesome affair, so there's something a little odd about a reality show that uses the movie's trappings to pit people against each other, and let's not even touch the AI-generated voice of Gene Wilder that narrates that proceedings.
