EU’s Carbon Removal Push Opens New Opportunities In Emerging Markets

BioFlux , a leading biochar carbon removal consultancy firm and the Global South CDR Coalition will host “CDR beyond Europe”, an official Brussels Climate Week side event, on Wednesday 14 October from 17:00 to 20:00 at Brasserie de la Senne in Brussels.

The event looks at what a global carbon dioxide removal market means for the European Union, as the EU develops its CDR policy and its approach to international CDR credits. It is aimed at CDR developers, buyers, investors and policymakers.

Philippe Putman, Executive Director of the Global South CDR Coalition, will open the programme with an introduction. Jop Weterings of DG CLIMA at the European Commission will then join a fireside chat on EU CDR policy and international CDR credits.

A panel will follow on lessons from five to ten years of carbon removal delivery, collaboration with emerging markets, and opportunities for EU buyers and investors. The panellists are Paul Préaux of BioFlux, Tom Mills of Mati Carbon, Wietse Vroom of Inspiratus, and Jop Weterings of DG CLIMA.

Closing remarks at 18:10 will be followed by drinks and networking from 18:15 until 20:00 CET.
