WhatsApp adds shareable event invites and a new Events hub

WhatsApp is rolling out an update to Events just in time for holiday get-togethers. Guests can open an invite link, see the event details, and RSVP without creating a WhatsApp account or downloading the app.

When you create an event, you can add a cover photo and share the invite link by text or email. WhatsApp also gives you the option to share a QR code.

WhatsApp says your phone number is hidden from guests you don’t know, and “guests without a WhatsApp account will only see the event address after they RSVP.”

You could already create events in WhatsApp group chats and one-on-one conversations .

With this update, WhatsApp is adding a dedicated Events section in Settings where you can create invites, manage RSVPs, and see past and upcoming events you’ve organized or been invited to.

You can also set custom reminders and give guests the option to bring a plus-one.

WhatsApp says the updated Events feature will roll out to everyone over the next few weeks.
