Make iPhone Duo Volume Buttons Follow Screen Rotation

Because of the iPhone Duo's foldable design, you tend to switch the orientation of the device more often than you would a regular iPhone. This makes the volume buttons shift positions a lot relative to your fingers, which can cause you to press volume up when you meant to press down, or vice versa. To prevent this, the iPhone Duo has an option in Settings which can dynamically remap the buttons as you rotate the device, so that the button on the top or right always turns the volume up, while the one on the bottom or left always turns it down. The system setting works by disabling the mechanism that keeps the volume controls in a fixed position whichever way you hold the phone. The following steps show you how it's done. Open the Settings app.

With the switch off, the volume buttons automatically adjust as you rotate your iPhone Duo, so volume up is always the button on the top or right, whichever way you're holding it. Turn the switch back on if you'd rather each button kept the same function in every orientation. The only thing to note is that if Orientation Lock is on, then the volume button configuration will follow the orientation that your iPhone Duo is locked to, rather than the way you're holding it. Apple's documentation suggests dynamic volume buttons is the default behavior, but this hasn't been the case on the few units we've tested so far. Related Roundup: iPhone Duo
