iPhone Duo durability tested on unfolding livestream, now over 260,000 folds

CNET built a ‘Fold-a-Phone’ machine that’s been constantly folding and unfolding iPhone Duo for over a week to test durability, while livestreaming daily. Here’s how it’s going.

CNET machine is folding and unfolding iPhone Duo 24/7 with daily livestream

How durable is the iPhone Duo’s hinge and folding display? Several early reviews tried to answer that question, including in some cases by building machines that constantly folded and unfolded the device.

CNET built a custom ‘Fold-a-Phone’ machine that has been folding and unfolding the iPhone Duo 24 hours per day, 7 days a week for over a week now.

It’s livestreaming the process here on YouTube every weekday from 1-5 p.m. ET.

When the livestream wrapped up yesterday, iPhone Duo had hit just over 260,000 folds.

So far, the hinge and crease seem to be holding up extremely well. But CNET says it will continue testing daily until at least November 20 to see if anything might change over time.

What do you think of the iPhone Duo folding test results so far? Let us know in the comments.
