Apple has published the estimated service costs for its new HomeView smart home display, including how much customers can expect to pay with and without AppleCare coverage. Here are the details.
Apple unveiled the HomeView today, a 7-inch smart display that is currently available for pre-order, with shipments beginning November 13.
Users can choose between two models: Apple HomeView and Apple HomeView (Wall Mounted). Both cost $299, but the wall-mounted model doesn’t come with a wall mount or power adapter. Those need to be purchased separately.
The standard HomeView, meanwhile, comes attached to a base with a more powerful built-in speaker system.
Following the announcement, Apple has now published the service and repair costs for the devices, both with and without AppleCare coverage.
According to Apple, the estimated service cost for either model is $279, listed under a single category: “Other damage.” There’s currently no breakdown for specific issues, such as a cracked screen or a faulty speaker on the standard model, suggesting that Apple may replace entire units rather than repair individual components.
Similarly, for units covered by AppleCare, the accidental damage service fee is currently listed at $39, regardless of whether the device is the standard or wall-mounted model, or the type of accidental damage.
It’s worth noting that Apple hasn’t confirmed whether these fees cover full-unit replacements or repairs to individual components.
We’ll keep an eye out for any updates to Apple’s service and repair pricing, including whether the company adds more specific repair categories or fees.
