Apple, in collaboration with Design Miami, is highlighting four creative projects from emerging designers in this year’s ‘Designers of Tomorrow’ exhibition, which opens today at Hôtel de Maisons in Paris. Here are the details.
Apple today published an interesting press release highlighting the work of five designers, who “integrated Apple products into their creative processes” to develop their projects.
Now in its second year, Apple’s “Designers of Tomorrow” initiative is organized in partnership with Design Miami. As Apple explains, this year’s participants were selected by a jury that included the company’s vice president of industrial design, Molly Anderson.
Here’s Apple on this year’s theme and the designers’ approach to it:
“Apple’s Designers of Tomorrow showcase, in collaboration with Design Miami, returns for a second year to spotlight the best in emerging talent, this time focusing on the theme of presence. Exploring what still holds the public’s attention amid the hurried pace of the modern world, designers Salem S. Charabi, Isabel Rower, Yoonjeong Lee, and Parafernalia (Genki Matsumura and Sebastián Zorrilla) crafted original works that invite reflection and aim to shift perspectives, engage the senses, and kindle curiosity.”
According to Rodman Primack, the program’s curator, the artists’ works “demonstrate the power of objects to shape our physical environments and transform the human experiences that are possible within them.”
Throughout the press release, Apple details how the selected designers used its products to develop their projects. Egyptian-Danish architect Charabi, for instance, relied on a MacBook Pro for sketching and 3D modeling, while Seoul-based designer Lee used an iPad Pro and Apple Pencil to sketch ideas and take notes.
