Low-cost jobs will be taken over by AI, most worried about outsourced ones: Workday CEO

Workday Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Aneel Bhusri told reporters at the Workday Rising Summit that AI will not lead to jobs moving out of the US or first-world countries, but may do the opposite.

Low-cost jobs , especially the outsourced ones, are likely to be overtaken by artificial intelligence, a top official of global HR tech major Workday said after the company unveiled a new AI platform, Sana, to automate human resources and finance functions. Workday Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Aneel Bhusri told reporters at the Workday Rising Summit that AI will not lead to jobs moving out of the US or first-world countries, but may do the opposite. "I worry that the low-cost jobs are the ones that are going to get replaced by AI. It's not about cost, it's about productivity. It's about people that are at the cutting edge of whatever discipline they're in. It doesn't matter where they live. But a lot of the low-level automation jobs that have been outsourced- that's where I worry the most, to be honest," he said.

Bhusri was replying to a question about the impact of process calibration tools in Workday's Sana platform, which shows cost calibration between the human workforce and AI-enabled automation. Workday has around 11,500 large enterprise customers. It has around 1,800 clients in India, which include companies like Genpact and Flipkart.
