The Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition is now available for preorder at Walmart, Best Buy and the Microsoft Store. It’s a striking translucent green controller, with numerous features that call back to the original Xbox console. It costs $79.99 and will release on October 20.

The translucent green looks fantastic, if you ask me. The Xbox button in the top center of the controller glows green in a nod to what the company says is "the first green X bursting through," presumably in the Xbox's startup animation. On the battery cover on the back of the controller is the original Xbox logo.

The left and right bumpers are white and black, respectively, which call to mind the extra face buttons on the original Xbox controller. Speaking of the face buttons, they're colored green, red, yellow, and blue, just like on the original.

But it's not all retro-styling on this controller. The triggers and bumpers are textured for better grip and less slippage. It also has all the other features you'd expect on a modern Xbox controller, like wireless connectivity and wide compatibility with Windows, Mac, and mobile.

Microsoft is busy with announcements during Gamescom, including the ability to digitize your physical games, starting next week for Xbox Insiders.
