Xbox Is Handling the Transition From Physical Media to Digital Much Better Than PlayStation Is

Xbox just announced its plan to let players digitize their physical games for use across any number of supported devices, from PCs to handhelds to (presumably) the upcoming Project Helix next-gen PC/console hybrid. And just like that, they've made PlayStation look even worse for its tone-deaf, player-last decision to stop selling physical copies of its games starting in early 2028 — the backlash from which isn't going away.

Setting aside how rare it's been for Xbox to one-up PlayStation since the infamous "How to share your games on PS4" fatality move that killed the Xbox One before that generation even started, what matters in the end is that the digital future is happening, and Microsoft is handling that transition far, far better than Sony is.

And yes, it is a transition. If it's not, it's because it already happened . But this is where Xbox is respecting players and PlayStation isn't.
