Xbox Game Pass has officially added Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, which is now available on two of its tiers and expected to reach at least one more in the near future. The latest title from French developer Asobo Studio is the service's seventh new addition and fifth day-one release in August 2026, as well as the 129th Xbox Game Pass arrival of the year.
Resonance is the third installment in the A Plague Tale franchise, after 2022’s A Plague Tale: Requiem. However, Asobo envisioned the new game as a prequel rather than a the threequel to Amicia and Hugo’s story. It stars Sophia, a supporting character introduced in Requiem, and takes place 15 years earlier. Requiem received five nominations at The Game Awards 2022: Game of the Year, Best Action/Adventure, Best Narrative, Best Score and Music, and Best Performance for Charlotte McBurney’s portrayal of Amicia. It lost the GOTY accolade to Elden Ring and the other four categories to God of War Ragnarok.
The halfway mark of 2026 is nearly here, and already, there are several strong candidates to claim the GOTY spot.
Following up on that critical success, Asobo Studio officially launched Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on August 27, simultaneously bringing it to most major platforms, including Xbox Game Pass. The third Plague Tale game is also the second consecutive one to join Microsoft's subscription service from its first day on the market. Resonance is available to XGP subscribers on the Series X/S consoles and PC, plus cloud streaming.
