Tim Curry, Famous For Rocky Horror And So Much More, Dies At 80

Talented screen actor, voice performer, and all-around cool dude Tim Curry has died at the age of 80, as first reported by TMZ.

On August 26, Curry’s death was first reported by TMZ. The outlet says sources confirmed the actor, who had been suffering from multiple health issues for many years, died late Tuesday night at his home in Los Angeles, California. Police responded to the home around midnight. No foul play is suspected, TMZ confirmed.

Curry was likely best known to many for his role as the wild Dr. Frank-N-Furter in the cult classic musical film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. However, the actor had a long and successful career across TV, movies, animation, and even video games. Curry suffered a major stroke in 2012, leaving him unable to walk and forcing him to undergo brain surgery. This led to him taking on fewer roles in the later part of his life, but he still made appearances here and there, including in the Fox remake of Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Of course, his most famous role in video games was likely his incredible performance as Premier Anatoly Cherdenko in EA’s Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, which was released in 2008. The actor appeared in multiple live-action cutscenes and was wonderful every time he appeared onscreen in the RTS.

However, a particular moment has gone on to become a viral meme and popular clip. It involves Curry’s character telling the player they will be escaping to the one place that hasn’t been ruined by capitalism: space!
