The Witcher 3 Remastered Recommends Double The RAM

CD Projekt Red has officially confirmed The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Remastered's PC system requirements, and they're a little more intense than the original's.

You now need a minimum 12GB of RAM, though CDPR recommends 16GB for the optimal experience. An SSD is also mandatory, with at least 70GB of free space. Likewise, if you're still running an older operating system, you will need to upgrade to Windows 11 to continue playing.

Upgrading a PC right now isn't exactly the most tantalizing prospect; the global memory shortage driven by AI data centers doesn't appear to be slowing down, and the Trump administration is weighing up even more tariffs on semiconductor-related goods. But don't worry. You won't suddenly be locked out from playing The Witcher 3 when the remaster launches. You can opt out.

Already, there's an option to roll back The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to its "classic" version, rather than the next-gen upgrade. This will be especially handy for players with less performant PCs or handhelds like the Steam Deck. You can access this option simply by navigating to Properties > Game Versions & Betas.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt — Remastered is a free upgrade for all existing owners , so the update will roll out for everyone next month. If your PC isn't up to snuff, keep that trick in your back pocket so you can roll back and continue to waste hundreds of hours playing Gwent without worrying about the RAMpocalypse.
