RTX Mega Geometry tech debuting in Gears of War: E-Day is set to become part of Microsoft's DirectX Raytracing 2.0 standard
Nvidia used Gamescom to detail a wave of developer-facing updates across DLSS, RTX, and its GeForce Now cloud platform.
DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction is now available via the Nvidia app for all GeForce RTX GPUs, built on a second-generation transformer model Nvidia says improves image quality in ray- and path-traced games by unifying "denoising and Super Resolution into a single model."
It also supports 30 titles at launch, including Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. Developers can also add it to their own games "via official updates."
The rollout comes as Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang pushes back on separate criticism of DLSS 5, unveiled earlier this week and accused by some critics of adding an AI sheen to character models at the expense of artistic control.
Asked about the backlash at the time, Huang said critics were "completely wrong," arguing that DLSS 5 "fuses controllability of the geometry and textures and everything about the game with generative AI" while leaving "direct control" with the developer. DLSS 5 has support from Bethesda, Capcom, NetEase, NCSoft, Tencent, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros Games.
Nvidia also confirmed new publisher support for RTX Spark, its upcoming Windows platform combining DLSS and Reflex with on-device AI agents, arriving this fall. Electronic Arts, Embark Studios, and Ubisoft are bringing titles including EA Sports F1 25, Apex Legends, and Arc Raiders, joining Krafton, NetEase, Riot Games, and Xbox, which signed on at Computex in May.
