His ambition was never a problem for the other members of the Band of Hawk because they knew that, before being an ambitious man, Griffith was a generational commander who could never make a bad decision. But when Griffith was on the cusp of losing everything, he made a choice, one that brought forth the eclipse and resulted in the deaths of almost all of his soldiers and friends.

Their sacrifice enabled Griffith to ascend and be reborn as one of the members of the God Hand.
