How To Unlock Halo: Campaign Evolved's McDonald's Armor

The somewhat unique Xbox x McDonald’s collaboration is now live in the UK, bringing six foods themed after the platform’s IPs to the chain’s menu. The team-up also includes in-game items you can unlock by eating at McDonald’s, which means we’ve been given our first look at Master Chief’s fast-good-themed armor.

Of the six items available through the McDonald’s crossover, the Halo: Campaign Evolved unlockable was the one that stood out because of how little it revealed. The item was simply listed as “Master Chief armor”. What we didn’t realize until seeing it is that the armor has been designed to turn the Xbox icon into a walking advert for Maccy D’s.

The armor is called Side Mission and is mostly red, the same shade of red typically associated with McDonald’s. The golden arches are represented in its design, too, with yellow flourishes included throughout. Oh, and it has a golden visor, which is actually the same visor you get on the regular Master Chief armor, although here, due to the rest of the McDonald’s ensemble, it fits pretty well. Or looks downright terrible depending on how you feel about the look.

It was assumed that you would get a code with a Big Mac meal or something like that once the promotion was live that could then be redeemed in the Halo remake to unlock the armor, but it’s not that simple. To get the armor, you first need to accrue enough McDonald’s points. You need to have the restaurant’s app and your own account to start collecting points, and 1,500 of them are required to unlock the armor.
