Predictably, the world is talking about GTA 6 this morning after its Extended Look premiered on Netflix. As it should, the game looks fantastic. So much more about GTA 6 has been revealed outside of the 26 minutes shown, too, including how long it’s going to take to play through its story.
We were shown a pretty significant chunk of what we’ll go through as Jason and Lucia via the Extended Look. Turns out what we were shown on Netflix barely scratches the surface. Rockstar’s co-studio head Rob Nelson spoke to The New York Times (thanks, IGN) about his most recent playthrough of GTA 6 behind the scenes, revealing that it took around 80 hours to finish.
There is a lot to do in GTA 6. We were given a taste of that during the Extended Look. However, Nelson clarifies that his 80-hour playthrough was almost entirely dedicated to the game’s main story. Just that and “optional goals with narrative ramifications”. So if we mess around in its huge open world, which we’re all going to do, getting to the end of that story is comfortably going to take 100+ hours.
Those optional goals Nelson mentions are interesting, too. It sounds like that, unlike other GTA games, we’re all going to experience slightly different versions of its story. In the slew of additional details revealed via various interviews after the Extended Look went live, among them is the suggestion that Jason and Lucia’s relationship will change depending on your actions.
